Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of British Columbia, lies Ve Oh Lay Acres Winery, a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit and passion for winemaking embodied by Maddison Violet and her husband, Laurent. Maddison’s journey from a barback to an award-winning winemaker and owner reflects her unwavering dedication and expertise in the world of wine.

Maddison’s odyssey began with humble beginnings, working in a bar where she was introduced to the world of fine wines and sommelier experiences. Fuelled by her passion, she pursued formal education in wine through the Wine Spirit Education Trust (WSET), culminating in her nomination and subsequent win of the IWSC/WSET Future 50 under 40, a prestigious accolade recognizing her as a trailblazer in the Canadian wine industry.

Her educational pursuits took her from Vancouver to San Francisco, and eventually to UC Davis in California, where she honed her skills in winemaking. However, Maddison’s journey was not limited to the confines of classrooms; she sought hands-on experiences in vineyards and cellars across the globe, from New Zealand to Australia, enriching her palate and refining her winemaking techniques.

 Maddison Violet

In less than a decade, Maddison transitioned from an employee to an employer, co-founding Ve Oh Lay Acres Winery with Laurent. Their vision was to create a sanctuary where tradition meets innovation, reflected in their diverse portfolio of wines crafted from grapes, flowers, herbs, fruits, and honey. Their commitment to quality and innovation has been duly recognized, with accolades such as the Global Recognition Award, Best Winery in Summerland and multiple wins at prestigious wine competitions.

The inspiration behind Ve Oh Lay Acres stems from Maddison and Laurent’s desire to create something truly unique, reflecting their personalities and ethos. Named after themselves, the winery is a labor of love, a fusion of tradition and experimentation. Their mission is to craft approachable wines that cater to both novice enthusiasts and seasoned connoisseurs, embodying their passion for inclusivity and innovation.

As Ve Oh Lay Acres continues to flourish, Maddison’s journey serves as a testament to the transformative power of dedication, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of excellence in the world of winemaking.
