Podcast-creation startup Rebel Audio announced a Series A round led by HardScope, a creator media company and studio, at about a $50 million post-money valuation. The company’s release sets a target close of $10 million, with more funding expected within 90 days. Podnews dates the release Oct. 9, 2026, and StartupResearcher dates the announcement to Oct. 8, so the exact date is not settled across sources.

As of Oct. 12, 2026, the round is described in the company’s announcement, as reproduced by Podnews, and on StartupResearcher. The sources do not confirm how much has closed. HardScope is the only lead investor named. StartupResearcher and the Podnews reproduction of the release both list strategic investors, including The State of Tennessee and Launch TN.

What the round terms show about investor interest

The company’s release reports a $4.15 million seed round that it describes as oversubscribed. Pulse 2.0 reported in March 2026 that it raised $3.8 million in an oversubscribed seed round within 30 days. The sources disagree on the seed size. None of the pages reviewed gives the seed valuation, so the change in value between rounds cannot be measured.

Both the release and StartupResearcher give the post-money valuation as about $50 million. A $10 million target at that valuation would equal about 20 percent of the company if the full target closed at that valuation. That figure is arithmetic on the stated numbers, not a figure from the sources.

The sources report no revenue, user numbers or retention figures for Rebel Audio. The valuation therefore cannot be checked against operating results in the material available as of Oct. 12, 2026.

What the money is meant to fund and what the product does

According to the release, the funds will accelerate the product roadmap, expand AI infrastructure and pay for creator acquisition and marketing. The release also refers to supporting continued growth, without giving a breakdown by category.

The release says the seed round helped take the company from stealth to public beta.

Pulse 2.0 described the product in March 2026 as an AI-powered platform for capturing audio, editing it and uploading episodes to major directories, including Spotify and Apple Podcasts. It reported that the company calls the product a Canva-style option for podcasting, and that an invite-only waitlist was planned for a launch during SXSW in Austin.

The release and StartupResearcher both describe a platform that covers recording, editing, publishing, translation, distribution and monetization. The pages reviewed do not explain how those features work, so this article does not describe them beyond that list.

Who the lead investor is and what the sources say about it

TheWrap reported HardScope’s launch on Dec. 16, 2025. Matt Kalish, a DraftKings co-founder, is its CEO. The company offers independent creators help with strategy, creative assets, production, social media, distribution and commercialization. It aims to help creators grow their audiences and content while developing original IP and new ventures.

TheWrap also reports that the team behind HardScope was behind FaZe Clan’s 2024 relaunch. It notes that Kalish invested $11 million in FaZe Media, a separate company, for 49 percent ownership. TheWrap does not disclose HardScope’s own funding or investors.

StartupResearcher lists Kalish among Rebel Audio’s board members, alongside Jacob Dezarn, Benjamin Lurie and Jonathan Schulman. The sources do not describe the terms of HardScope’s investment in Rebel Audio, including its ownership stake or whether the investment is part of a wider program.

The sources do not confirm how much has closed.

What the announcement says about next steps and timing

The announcement gives four figures: a $4.15 million seed, a $50 million post-money valuation, a $10 million target close and a 90-day window for further funding. The sources do not say when the window starts. Counted from Oct. 9, 2026, 90 days would end on Jan. 7, 2027; this is a calculation, not a sourced date.

Jared Gutstadt, Rebel Audio’s founder and CEO, says the company’s mission is to remove friction for creators and give them their time back. Matt Kalish, HardScope’s CEO, says that empowering creators to build ambitious projects and audiences is core to HardScope’s mission. Both statements appear in the release as published by Podnews.

The release also lists POD U, the company’s inaugural creator think tank, on Oct. 16 at the Rebel Chateau in Franklin, Tennessee, moderated by Jimmy Jellinek. The announcement does not report customer counts, revenue or retention, so the valuation cannot be compared with those measures. Further detail on the close is not in the sources as of Oct. 12, 2026.
