Finding Your Entrepreneurial Self Again After Having Kids With Adrienne Dorison

As women, one of the things that usually has the biggest impact on our entrepreneurial journey is having kids.

For me personally, after having kids, my motivation and inspiration for my business completely disappeared.

I became a totally different person and all of a sudden, there was something so much more significant in my life that left no space in my brain for showing up in my business.

I felt like I had no creative spark or motivation and I gave myself the hardest time about it.

Then last year, I came across a post on Instagram by my friend Adrienne Dorison, Founder of Run Like Clockwork, and it felt like she was speaking directly to me. I read her full post on the episode but it went something like this:

“I was creatively drained for years after I gave birth to Kit. I literally felt like when I birthed her, the process took my creativity and business motivation out of my body at the same time… I worried I’d never have the same ambition again… Three and a half years later I’m just starting to find it and that’s ok…”

I’ve been meaning to invite Adrienne on the podcast for ages and we finally made it happen! I’m really excited to share this chat with you where we talked about:

  • How she learned to accept that it was ok to take time off from her business after having her children
  • Why we need to accept that life comes in waves (and aligning your business with your personal desires and values)
  • Making decisions about how you actually want to spend your time (vs. taking on projects just to make money)
  • Creating (and living) your own definition of success and making choices that align with that
  • Adrienne’s 4 Ds for getting clear on how you’re spending your time so that you can take a break from your business whenever you need to

This is such an amazing episode with a really important message regardless if you have children or not, because I know we find it so difficult to allow ourselves to take breaks as women. Adrienne shares some incredible insights and powerful tips on this that I’m going to implement, and I know they’ll help you too.
