In this modern era, we have the chance to set up successful businesses from the comfort of our homes. Although few businesses have granted the option of remote work to their employees, it was during the pandemic that we saw its peak. Many employees now prefer remote work instead of the traditional in-office type. Studies show that employees are more productive when they are working remotely, whether it’s from the comfort of their homes or any other location.

While all of this sounds nice for employees, it might be a bit challenging for business owners and managers. Almost all managers and business owners like to be hands-on and keep track of their employees’ active tasks, skillsets, mindsets, etc. However, managing a remote team will void you of that possibility as a business owner, and you have to find a way to engage with your employees.

Luckily for you, technology has your back. Let’s take a look below at how you can effectively manage a remote team in 2023 the right way.

Track Their Performance

The bottom line speaks the loudest. So, regardless of whether your employees are in the office or at home, if they are generating profit for your business, they are carrying out their end.

However, you can’t extrapolate pertinent performance data without the right tools. Businesses that rely on remote teams to carry out their business operations implement employee computer monitoring software and ensure that their employees are, in fact, bringing their A-game despite working from home. Of course, this software is nonintrusive and will only gather work-related data and help you, as a business owner, see just who the top performer is and which one of your employees is lagging behind.

With the use of such a system, you can expect all set deadlines to be carried out in an overall organized business.

Embrace Project Management Platforms

It’s not at all hard to delegate tasks to your remote team; you only have to find the right project management platform. This type of platform exists to help businesses effectively communicate what they want and when they want something done. The majority of them are entirely free, and if you haven’t set up a workspace on one already, don’t hesitate to do so.

The way these platforms work is extremely simple. Open your workspace page, create a task, and assign it to a member who you think has the adequate skills to carry it out in a timely manner.

Communication is key

Communication is an essential part of running a successful remote team. Without consistent, effective communication among the team, it can be difficult to manage tasks, set deadlines, and support each other in their roles.

Regular check-ins among team members help ensure everyone is on the same page and that tasks are being completed in a timely manner. In addition, strong communication allows for greater collaboration and problem-solving, which helps to ensure optimal performance and productivity from the entire team.

Look into communication platforms such as Slack to set up a hub where you can easily engage with your employees and better organize your entire workflow.

Hire Only The Right People

Hiring a remote team requires careful consideration and research. When recruiting, it is important to identify the skills and experience necessary to be successful in the roles you are hiring for and to ensure that the remote team members have these qualities.

In addition, you should look into their track record of success when working remotely and evaluate their ability to communicate clearly and effectively with other team members. Finally, consider the trustworthiness of potential team members, as this will significantly impact how well they can work in a team, as you don’t want individualists.

Bottom Line

Leading a remote workforce is not an easy feat, and without the right tools in place, it might even be impossible. Follow the steps we outlined for you above, and you will, without a shadow of a doubt, start seeing positive changes.

Don’t forget to always hire the right people for the job and track their performance so they can work together to achieve all the goals you set for your business.
